In 2001, the UK's Foreign and Commonwealth Office decided to produce a UK national report for the UN General Assembly Special Session on Children, which took place in September 2001. Homeless International felt this was an opportunity to point out how children's lives are affected by having to live in slums or in poor quality housing without adequate basic infrastructure, and how investments in decent housing and communities could benefit children. Homeless International produced a short publication explaining the importance of these issues, which you can read or download below.
