It's time to make a difference
Every year on World Habitat Day, we ask everyone to donate just one hour’s pay, an amount that doesn’t stretch far in the UK, to help us continue our support to communities in some of the world’s poorest urban areas. This is called the Hour's Pay Campaign , and it’s easy to take part!
World Habitat Day, the first Monday of October, is recognised around the world for focusing attention on developing human settlements for the 1 billion people who lack adequate shelter. The Hour's Pay Campaign is held on this day to help highlight the true extent of a problem that is largely overlooked.
Just one hour of your time can contribute to life-changing developments throughout the world - and because Homeless International only supports long-term, sustainable initiatives, your money will continue to have an impact on many low-income communities.
Over the past 10 years, our Hour’s Pay supporters have raised more than £325,000, providing crucial support to our projects. Read about the projects supported last year, and the work that we hope to support this year, in our Hour's Pay handbook (576KB).
How to take part
To take part all you have to do is donate one hour's pay! You can ask your colleagues to join in too - perhaps get people interested by organising something for you all to do in the hour. We are happy to supply literature and videos, so you can see how your donations will help. Alternatively, if your family and friends want to participate we can send you individual donation forms. (You can hold your Hour's Pay campaign on a day that suits you or your organisation; so don't worry if 1st October isn't convenient.)
You can donate individually online by visiting our JustGiving Hour's Pay page. Alternatively, print and fill out the employee authorisation form below (you don't need to be holding the campaign in your office to use this form) and return it to us at Homeless International, Queens House, 16 Queens Road, Coventry, CV1 3EG. If you’d like to read more about the campaign first, have a look at the Hour's Pay handbook.
To run the campaign in your office, you will need a coordinator's pack, consisting of a handbook, Employee Authorisation Forms, and A3 posters. If you’ve taken part in previous years, you should be receiving your pack in the post shortly. If not, you can download the documents below.
Alternatively, if you’d like printed copies of these documents, or if you’ve got any questions, contact Sarah Mitchell on 024 7663 2802, or by e-mail.
