Simon Dow (Chair)
Simon is Group Chief Executive of The Guinness Partnership, which has assets of around £1 billion, and he was the acting Chief Executive of the Housing Corporation. Simon has also been on the National Housing Federation’s National Council and has been involved at board level with the London Housing Foundation’s work on combatting street homelessness.
Tamsin Stirling (Vice Chair)
Tamsin is an independent consultant in housing research, policy and information services. She has around 20 years’ experience of the Welsh housing sector working as a consultant, policy officer, research assistant and housing officer. She is also an Associate of HouseMark and editor of Welsh Housing Quarterly published by Cardiff University.
Suzanne Forster (Honorary Treasurer)
Suzanne is the Finance Director of East Thames Housing Group and has over 18 years’ experience of working directly with the affordable housing sector and has provided her financial expertise to organisations such as the Tenants Services Authority.
Eric Armitage OBE
For many years Eric was Chief Executive of North British Housing Association (now named Places for People), and he is a former Chair of the National Housing Federation. Eric has also sat on the Board of the Housing Corporation. Eric was Chair of Homeless International from 2006 until 2011, when Simon Dow became our new Chair.
Professor Alison Brown
Alison is the course director of Cardiff University’s MSc in International Planning & Development. Alison has research interests in planning practice in emerging cities, spatial planning, the management of informal economies, and the impacts of globalisation on the informal economy. She is a member of the steering committee of UN-HABITAT’s World Urban Campaign and part of an UNESCO/UN-HABITAT project.
Malcolm Harper
Malcolm is the author of ten books and many articles on business development in developing countries. He is Professor Emeritus at the Cranfield School of Management, Cranfield University, and holds an MA (Oxford), MBA (Harvard) and a PhD from the University of Kenya.
Derek Joseph
Derek is non-executive Chair and Director of a number of quoted companies, and is authorised by the FSA. Derek has personally advised governments, local authorities and NGOs in Eastern Europe, Asia and South America on strategies and finances for public services.
Caren Levy
Caren is a development planner. Formerly a consultant working in transport planning, environmental policy and research into communities, Caren is a senior lecturer and former Director of the Development Planning Unit (DPU), University College of London.
Alex Apsan Frediani
Alex is a development planner specialising in squatter settlement upgrading policies and participatory approaches to development. He is a lecturer at the Development Planning Unit (DPU), University College of London.
David Orr
David Orr is chief executive of the National Housing Federation and recently former President of CECODHAS-Housing Europe, the European Liaison Committee for Social Housing. He also sits on the board of The Housing Finance Corporation.
