Appeal for help from our Pakistan partner OPP | 13th August 2010 |
Appeal for help from our partner, OPP, who is operating in the flood affected areas of Pakistan
The United Nations is now reporting that over 14 million people have been affected by the floods in Pakistan, with at least 1,600 people killed. In addition, huge numbers of livestock have perished, crops have washed away and houses submerged and/or collapsed in towns and villages across the floods affect area.
Homeless International’s local partner in Pakistan, the Orangi Pilot Project (OPP), is operating in the areas affected by the floods. OPP is now in the process of responding to the needs of flood affected communities, whilst in other areas access is still restricted and assessments ongoing.

OPP is involved in emergency relief efforts, rescue operations, operating in camps set up for the displaced, and distributing supplies and items such as food, water purification tablets, clothing and importantly, medicines.
There is limited time to help those in need. We are asking for your donations towards OPP’s emergency relief efforts. In addition to food, shelter and clean water, medicines are urgently required for the treatment of cholera, snake bites, skin and respiratory tract infections and acute diarrhoea. Donations will also be used to help the reconstruction efforts once immediate needs have been met.
To support OPP with its emergency relief now and reconstruction efforts following the disaster, please use the donation form below to accompany your cheque made payable to 'Homeless International'. Alternatively, you can donate on line at http://www.justgiving.com/HI-pakistanfloods.
Thank you very much for your support.
